Silver Michelsen has always been drawn to both music and childcare; as a teen, they alternated between singing in a church choir, and babysitting for parents who wanted to sing! Their experience with both fields has only grown since then, and they're delighted to have the chance to combine the two.

Silver worked at Stepping Stones Early Learning Center for three years as an assistant teacher, where they did everything from teaching social-emotional skills to toddlers, to planning and leading circle time for preschoolers, to driving the bus for the school-age kids. They also worked as a private nanny and babysitter for around five years total for a variety of familes. They enjoy teaching children and adults alike, and believe people learn best when they’re having fun in a supportive community. They are planning to earn their certification as a postpartum doula in 2024, and they’re looking forward to bringing families their support and expertise as a doula, as well as their creativity and love for music as a music teacher.

Silver has played the piano since their mother taught them as a young child, and they're currently learning how to play the harp and the glockenspiel. They produce their own music as a hobbyist singer-songwriter, which often features layered vocal harmonies and unusual percussion samples. They listen to a wide variety of music with their family and especially enjoy singing along in the car. After years of fun bringing their own kid to class, they're excited to keep Meadowlark Music Together going as its new director!
